Shading a Face
When shading a face, remember that any hatching should supplement and complement the contour sketch and allow the natural presence of the facial features to establish the form of the face. Standard areas shaded on the face include the forehead, cheekbones, bridge of the nose, beneath the chin, and around the eyes and lips. It is important to keep the directions of hatch lines consistent and not make the common error of shading from either side of the face towards the centre
