Seated Pose

A seated pose is somewhat more complicated than other poses, requiring additional considerations such as foreshortening. In many cases the legs will be crossed in such a way that you will also need to draw with ¨hidden¨ body parts in mind. What is more, seated poses require a greater number of successive surfaces rather than extensions, requiring an emphasis on shading rather than lines to illustrate. Seated poses relax muscles, reducing their exterior appearance. Once again, it is important to sketch the chair or supporting surface to avoid the impression that the subject is levitating however it should be drawn with minimal detail if you do not want to diminish the central focus of the figure.
