Reclining Pose

In the reclining pose, it is particularly important to draw the supporting surface. Otherwise, your subject will appear to be levitating. There does not need to be extensive detail, even a few strokes to insinuate the surface will suffice. Drawing the supporting surface will also aid you in achieving the correct degree of recession for the figure. Depending on the angle of the reclining pose, be careful to employ foreshortening techniques. The reclining pose tends to convey a sense of relaxation so try to convey this throughout the piece as you draw the various sections of the body.
