Pose

In a life drawing class, the model will continue to change his/her pose, allowing artists to practice drawing different body parts and poses. Remember that you do not need to draw the entire pose, nor will you necessarily have enough time to do so, but the key is choosing the feature that intrigues you most in the pose. It could be the way the light hits a certain area of the body or casts a shadow over another. Could be the angle at which the model rests their leg or tilts their head. The point is that you will have many drawing options and the choice you make will depend on your interests and drawing goals. Each viewpoint provides opportunities to develop different drawing techniques and skills for drawing various body parts. Frontal views and views from behind provide greater opportunity for developing hatching techniques and rendering form whereas profile poses allow for greater concentration in contour drawing. In any pose however, volume and modeling will be essential for rendering the human figure.
