How to Draw Men & Women

The following attributes are commonly associated with the female body when comparing its general structure to that of the male figure. Although general proportions are essentially the same, important differences include the hips, shoulders, and over all size of the body structure. It is important to have a basic understanding of these differences however you will find that observation of one's subject is the only way to accurately render the proportions, shapes and positioning of human body parts, despite gender.

Females commonly have:

- Smaller bone structures
- Less muscular definition
- Rounder, softer edges to their figures
- Narrower shoulders
- Higher, longer, smaller waists
- Slightly lower navel
- Larger breasts
- Wider hips
- Smaller jaws
- Narrower necks
- Smaller ankles/wrists
- Wider thighs
- Smaller calves
- Wider, fuller buttocks, positioned slightly lower on the body
- Smaller hands
- Smaller feet
